What is The Common Works?

Located in the heart of downtown Cochrane, in Alberta, Canada, The Common Works is a multidisciplinary creative hub designed to support artists, makers, and the wider community.

It’s a shared space where people can make, learn, exhibit work, and connect, whether that’s building something by hand, sharing creative work with the public, or taking part in creative programs as they grow.

We empower local artists and makers by offering accessible, professional-grade workspaces, shared tools, hands-on education, retail opportunities, and public events — all under one roof.

With a modern cowboy-cool aesthetic rooted in local heritage, our space is designed to reflect the spirit of small-town Alberta while supporting contemporary creative work.

Founded by Cochrane-based cabinetmaker and creative entrepreneur Tony Millwater, The Common Works is a grassroots initiative supported by local tradespeople, artists, and business mentors.

Together, we’re building a vibrant, inclusive community, one project at a time.

Two Ways We Create Together

The Makespace and Community Arts Centre is being developed as a (soon-to-be) non-profit organization.

Commercial Art Gallery
A curated gallery and retail space showcasing and selling work by local and regional artists through rotating exhibitions.
